Milan is a second year medical student at Drexel University College of Medicine. He has had the opportunity of living in Philadelphia for the past five years. Over this time he has had the privilege of working/volunteering with many of Philadelphia’s top tier medical institutions, as well as local community centers and schools. Milan has a deep passion for service and equity. Through his experiences he has seen many of the great programs offered by the city government and local non-profits; however, he has also come face-to-face with many barriers to healthcare access amongst locals in the Philadelphia community.
In an effort to address these barriers to equitable healthcare access, Milan founded Philadelphia Health Initiative (PHI). Milan’s vision for PHI is to be a boots on the ground group that spreads healthcare information directly to local communities and schools in Philadelphia. By directly addressing various community groups, Milan hopes to bring health education and program information directly to those that need it most!
PHI has three main aims. First, we aim to educate Philadelphia locals about common health conditions (i.e. high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes). Second, we aim to connect locals to existing programs for affordable health check-ups and medications. Finally, we aim to promote youth participation in the medical field.
PHI believe’s that one of the the most effective, long lasting, solutions to help bridge the gap in medical access is to help promote our very own Philadelphia youth to become the next generation of medical professionals that will help combat barriers they themselves have experienced.
Educate locals about common health conditions
Connect locals with affordable clinics and medications
Promote the medical field to Philadelphia youth
